As a family business, sustainability is part of our DNA. That’s why our strategy is designed for the long term, and we’ve always focused on the future. Under the ‘Plan P’ concept, we group all of our sustainability initiatives into three sections.

7277 t
of CO2 saved by using rail as a mode of transport in 2025
Focus on rail
We use various modes of transport and apply the latest findings from research and development to minimise emissions of exhaust gases and pollutants in road transport. Today, we already transport 60% of our transport volume via our 12 rail centres using low-emission rail transport. That amounts to 11 million clean rail kilometres every year. In 2025, we were able to avoid 42 327 truck trips or 7277 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Alternative drive technologies
Using the latest telematics and fleet management software solutions, we are continuously optimising our vehicle fleet and the CO2 emissions of our vehicles. All of our diesel vehicles have met the Euro 6 emission standards since 2022. The electrification of vehicles in city logistics and urban transport is a top priority for our fleet management. It will have a significant impact on mobility in these areas. This is why we prefer to use electric trucks, electric delivery vans and small electric motorbikes for last-mile delivery in noise-polluted zones, and we even have two horse-drawn carriages in Zermatt. We are also actively driving forward the switch to fuels with significantly lower CO₂ emissions, such as hydrogenated vegetable oil.
Energy efficiency of buildings
We have been a member of the Energy Agency of the Swiss Private Sector (EnAW) since 2014 and have agreed targets with the federal government for the reduction of our energy consumption and CO2 emissions at our ‘high-consumption locations’ (with annual power consumption in excess of 500 megawatt hours). In addition, we have been conducting a voluntary energy audit of a further 16 locations since 2024, and are defining measures to reduce their energy consumption. We will implement these over the coming years so that we can further reduce the energy consumption of our premises.

NEW
Our sustainability report
We have been reporting on our progress and goals in our Sustainability Report for more than a decade now. Here, we set out how we orchestrate our initiatives for the environment, the world of work and wider society – and where we want to make further improvements. The key issues presented have been determined using the double materiality approach. On request, we can even evaluate the CO2e emissions consumption per customer.
People
A brighter future for committed people
In the ‘People’ section, we talk about what sets us apart as people: the next generation, our responsibility for training and the promotion of young talent, and the core elements of occupational health and safety.
We want to give young people the opportunity to choose an occupation that aligns with their individual skills and interests and also supports their personal development. That is why we offer a wide range of apprenticeships. We currently employ over 400 apprentices, which accounts for 6.5% of the group’s total workforce. We closely monitor changes in the world of work and continually evaluate new professional fields in order to be prepared for current and future challenges.
We maintain three company-owned training centres with a driving school and training workshop. We recruit our driving instructors and trainers from within the company. As soon as our new arrivals start, we introduce them to the Planzer world at our training centres over the course of three to five days, depending on the division. This allows them to familiarise themselves with the high quality standards we expect from our logistics services and gain practical knowledge for their day-to-day work right from the start.
Ensuring safe and healthy workplaces is an essential part of our business. Our occupational safety system is based on industry solution no. 25 of the Federal Coordination Commission for Occupational Safety (FCOS) and the Swiss Road Transport Association (ASTAG). In day-to-day operations, this means that we enable our employees to work safely and responsibly by providing training, instruction and targeted information.

Our code of conduct for suppliers
We believe sustainability means balancing economic efficiency, social fairness and environmental responsibility. These values also shape the way we work with business partners. Our group-wide code of conduct for suppliers sets out our expectations for responsible, ethical and legally compliant business activities. Together with our suppliers, we want to ensure a fair supply chain that conserves resources.
Planet
Responsibility for our planet
In the ‘Planet’ section, you can read about how we contribute to national and international climate protection, the environmental improvements we are promoting and how we are campaigning for a greener planet.
We have developed a company-wide greenhouse gas inventory. It allows us to provide a transparent overview of emissions, both within our own company and along the entire value chain. From this, we are currently developing an emissions reduction pathway with the aim of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 at the latest, in line with Switzerland’s Climate and Innovation Act. Our greenhouse gas inventory is aligned with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.
We are pushing ahead with the transition to alternative fuels with significantly reduced CO2 emissions. To achieve this, we are investing in HVO100 fuel. This is a vegetable oil based on waste materials. This achieves a CO2 reduction of up to 90% compared with conventional fuel. We have also been using HVO R32 since mid-2024. This blend of HVO, FAME biodiesel and fossil diesel can achieve CO2 savings of around 27% compared with 100% fossil diesel.
On behalf of our customers, we manage and store goods on more than 1,48 million m2 of storage area in Switzerland and in neighbouring Germany (Singen, Pfullendorf, Achern) and Italy (Como, Lainate, Vercelli and Pomezia). In accordance with the multi-user warehouse principle, we consolidate similar goods from different customers at various locations in order to optimise the use of the infrastructure in terms of energy, resources and costs.
A strong plan for the big picture
We have been an owner-managed company in family hands since 1936 and we want it to stay that way going forward. That is why we do everything we can to ensure that both we and those who come after us can look forward to a bright future.

Perspective
The best prospects for a better future
We don’t know what the future holds. But we can do our part to ensure that it remains attractive for future generations. This section contains everything there is to say about intelligent logistics, ground-breaking innovations and digital progress.
Our Planzer Workbench innovation programme aims to promote the ideas of employees and external partners, and turn them into small improvements or groundbreaking innovations across all areas. Solutions that are closely linked to our core business and which create added value for customers, employees and society are rated ‘innovative’.
We use city logistics to deliver goods efficiently to Swiss city centres. Shipments travel to the urban rail centre at night, where they are consolidated and distributed using low-emission vehicles. A flagship project for city logistics is the ‘Planzer – Dynamic Micro Hub with LOXO’. For more information, read on below.
We have strong local roots and work both within and beyond our country’s borders. In other words, in some places, we are part of the region and the communities that live there. That’s why we are committed to playing our part in society by supporting various organisations, whether financially or through practical help.

Joint pilot project ‘Planzer – Dynamic Micro Hub with LOXO’
We launched the pioneering pilot project ‘Planzer – Dynamic Micro Hub with LOXO’ together with Swiss tech start-up LOXO. Our common goal is to make city logistics in Switzerland’s urban areas more efficient, sustainable and future-proof.
