Bringing ideas to the workbench

12 July 2022

Climate change, supply chain bottlenecks, individualisation, new market players with disruptive business models, e-commercialisation, affordable technologies, available data, networked purchasing – these are some of the many challenges we’ll be faced with in the future. To master them, we set up the Planzer Workbench in 2021.

Bringing innovation to the table

We bring new and bold approaches to the Planzer Workbench, with which we can solve the problems of today and beyond. The most important material here is new ideas. They can come from employees, customers, business partners, external experts or scientific and academic institutions. And sometimes even from the market itself.

A straightforward innovation process

Once an idea has been brought to the Workbench, two idea workers start rolling up their sleeves. They gather all the necessary details and prepare an initial discussion in the idea team. If the team is impressed, a prototype is created: for example, as a process design, visualisation or draft of a landing page. If the divisional managers give the go-ahead, a pilot project can be launched – and from there, the journey to it becoming implemented in everyday logistics is a short one.

Focussed on the future

Workbench ideas originate from the topics ‘sustainable logistics’, ‘future of work’, ‘autonomous transport’, ‘automation/robotic solutions’ and ‘data use/artificial intelligence’. We place particular importance on the future world of work. Here, we seek answers to questions such as: What do we need to ensure that we enjoy performing at our best? What tools and new technologies can help us to do this? And how do we remain focussed on the people who work with us and for us beyond today?

With the Planzer Workbench, we aim to strengthen our innovative prowess and make ourselves fit for the future. Details and examples of implemented ideas can be found on: planzer.ch/en/blog/planzer-workbench/
