Fully charged for the future: our new eActros 600 in action

The eActros 600 has found its new home in Conthey and will be used for long-distance electric transport from here.

Electric traction for the future

Reducing emissions from heavy goods vehicles is no longer just a vision. It is advancing and already rolling down our roads. With the new Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 (Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 | Mercedes-Benz Automobil AG), we are expanding our electric fleet to include a high-performance tractor unit for demanding everyday long-distance transport.

With a range of around 550 kilometres, a battery capacity of 600 kWh and an engine output of around 600 kW, the vehicle is designed to meet high demands. The total towing weight of 42 tonnes and state-of-the-art drive technology make it clear that electromobility and performance are no longer mutually exclusive.

Driving experience

We deliberately entrusted our new ‘baby’ to André Peter. He has been part of the Planzer family for 38 years and is actually a self-confessed ‘diesel fan’. That’s why he was chosen. Those who are familiar with the details of classic and proven technology are particularly well placed to assess the conversion to an electric drive.

The practical test has been successful so far: André can successfully cover the Conthey – Oberbuchsiten – Conthey route without recharging or detours. This is a strong indication of the everyday suitability of modern electric traction engines.

My experience so far has been very positive. The pulling power is excellent, and the machine is very smooth and comfortable to drive. I wouldn’t want to swap it for anything else!

New technology, new requirements

Electrification is also changing the conditions in operations. The range, deployment planning and loading windows must be precisely coordinated. A lack of charging points or charging points that are too far away, as well as the coordination of charging times within the fleet, are currently some of the key challenges in everyday electric operations.

The eActros 600 is more than just a new vehicle. It reflects our strategic orientation: efficient logistics with reduced CO₂ emissions. It demonstrates technological advances in day-to-day operations and the willingness to consistently test new approaches.
